Moonspell founded own label ALMA MATER RECORDS in August 2016, in Leiria/ Alcobaça in the team of these people:
- Fernando Ribeiro (CEO / A&R, Moonspell)
- Pedro Vindeirinho (Product Manager)
- João Diogo Pereira (Designer)
Some words from Alma Mater records:
Fernando is Moonspell’s lead singer, lyricist and manager. He started on the scene back in the late 80’s as an underground supporter and tape trader, a context that would help him to get Moonspell out of Portugal and into the worldwide Underground Metal scene. Moonspell has been now together for almost 25 years and we hope you know their history. Fernando has always been known for embracing other projects, especially in Literature, but he is now using his contacts, his experience and his undeniable special connection with the Moonspell fans in order to bring up a label that serves both the band and everyone out there living under the spell.
Pedro Vindeirinho/Rastilho is the owner of a Portuguese based label, distribution and merch company that has been on the scene for 20 years, exactly on the year Irreligious has first seen the light of day. He is now one of the references and a sure highlight as far as the Portuguese scene goes, releasing, not only, the best editions and re-editions from legendary Portuguese bands; but discovering many great names which are now established acts in the Portuguese scene. Pedro works Moonspell merchandise/store since 2009 to great success and he is also one of the most active voices in the Portuguese Punk and alternative scene.
João Diogo is a breathtaking designer and artist who lives in Leiria, Portugal and who has been recruited by AM Records to invent a signature and a distinctive identity for the label and all forthcoming releases. He has collaborated with many important Portuguese bands like Bizarra Locomotiva and we are indeed happy to have him on board, helping the label to conquer their space and their look on the scene, already from its foundation.

The goals behind ALMA MATER Records are first and foremost to release essential and unreleased/rare Moonspell’s repertoire to open a little the gate to a quite rich, unexploited vault, full of Moonspell’s experiments, different moments, secret tunes. As it is stands now it also represents Moonspell’s attitude of being an independent-minded band all the time and especially to reward their fans, who have helped to build such a beautiful, unexpected tale from this unforgettable Portuguese band.
